Dionysiou aeropagitou - Thisio - Monastiraki

Locals enjoy walking and cycling along Dionysiou Aeropagitou Street, a pedestrian street that also borders the Acropolis.
Alongside the street, you’ll find amazing architectural pearls and buildings, where time seems to have stood still. A wonderful place, where history, architecture and nature blend together.
The locals enjoy the beauty and the calmness of this street, but if you visit the city as a tourist there is another very important reason not to miss it, the museums that are located on this street. The Acropolis Museum is of course the one with the major attractions, however culture lovers should definitely consider visiting the Kanellopoulos Museum, Athens University History Museum , Ilias Lalaounis Jewelry Museum, and Thyreos Vassiliki Art House, The diverse collections take visitors on an inspirational journey through the history of Athens – Greece.
When making your way through the pedestrian zone, you pass, to your left-hand side, the Filopappou Hill, known in the ancient times as the Hill of the Muses. Make a stop and take a relaxing walk or ride along the paths within the hill before checking out the nearby sightseeing spots. Various view points in the hill range provide excellent panoramic views of the Acropolis, and the Saronic Gulf.
About 50 metres further along, cycle right, continue further through pedestrianized Apostolou Pavlou str. and head to Thissio. The area was named after the nearby ancient temple, a traditional neighbourhood with a multitude of charming neoclassical houses and stately buildings.
Cycle a little bit further and find Monastiraki, a lively multicultural district known for its flea market. Wander through the streets and discover many beautiful spots such us trendy bars and restaurants, traditional coffee houses little shops selling souvenirs etc. The outside seating area is very popular, with Acropolis views. Restaurants and cafés move their tables out onto the street for people to enjoy their food or coffee in the sun.
